Menu book for the Care Home
This menu picture book has been created to assist people within the Care sector with communication challenges.
The menu book has been devised in consultation with the Care Sector.
The pictures of different dishes have been created with great care to maximise the choice for residents.
The book is a useful tool, which will help bridge the gap between carer and resident. It is an efficient and gracious way of expressing menu choices.
The book is divided into six sections:
Drinks Breakfast Lunch Vegetarian High tea deserts
Colour coded for ease of use.
Each section contains pictures of everyday meals, drinks and snacks consumed in the care Sector.
By pointing at the dishes the menu choices are crystal clear, giving people real choice and control over their menu selection.
At the back of the book are three white boards to personalise messages and menus.
The book is laminated so is wipeable for hygiene purposes.

Communication Care Home Book
Communication difficulties are common within the care Sector. Losing the ability to speak or understand is both frightening and frustrating.
This book has been created as a solution for people within the Care Sector with Communication Challenges; it will help them connect with the world around them.
The following brief instructions quickly and efficiently explain the functions of the book:
The book is divided into four sections Colour tabbed for easy use;
A) Getting Dressed
B) Daily Routine
C) Food and Drink
D) Medical
Each section contains images of common scenarios.
By pointing at an image it will help the user communicate their requirements.
There is a tick and Cross on the left page of each section to enable the user to express Yes or No to a question.
At the back of the book is a section with reusable labels, to enable you to put a word under each numbered image. We have included a translation for 8 different European languages that can be used:
English, Albanian, Croatian, French, German, Italian, Polish, Romanian
There is also a couple of white board pages to write personalised messages.
We have also included an alphabet and number page.
A page with a clock and days of the week has been inserted which can be used to communicate appointments etc.
The book is A5 size and laminated for easy cleaning

The Today's Menu board size 490mm X 640mm and Menu Cards (106, A6 cards) The products have been developed to accompany the Care Home Menu Book.
Clients can choose their menu from the portable Menu book, where as the Today's Menu Board is displayed inside or outside of the dining room to remind clients what they have ordered and to display the menu of the day.
The Cards are laminated for protection and can easily be wiped down as can the Menu Board.
There are 106 A6 generic menu cards covering Breakfast , Lunch and Evening Meal.
IN ADDITION TO THE 106 CARDS WE ARE ADDING THE CHRISTMAS LUNCH SET OF 5 CARDS IF YOU BUY THE MENU BOARD BUNDLE BEFORE THE LAST DAY OF THE CHRISTMAS POST 13TH DECEMBER 2023.
These cards for example "Liver & onions or Angel delight" or the "Christmas Lunch menu"can be taken on the rounds with the menu book to enable the client to decide what they would like to eat.
